Advanced Testing

Testing Should Answer a Clinical Question

More testing is not always better. The value of a laboratory study depends on whether it addresses a meaningful clinical question, whether the method is appropriate, and whether the result will change management.

Andelana MD uses conventional laboratories and may use selected specialty laboratories when additional information is clinically justified. Not every patient requires advanced testing, and no laboratory panel should be interpreted without medical history and clinical context.

Conventional Laboratory Evaluation

What Testing Measures • Complete blood count and metabolic testing • Glucose, hemoglobin A1c, insulin, and related metabolic markers • Standard and advanced lipid assessment • Thyroid testing including TSH, Free T4, Free T3, and thyroid antibody testing when clinically appropriate • Reproductive and adrenal-related hormones selected according to the patient • Iron, vitamin, and nutrient markers • Inflammatory and cardiovascular markers • Other physician-selected testing

Advanced Cardiometabolic Testing

What Testing Measures • Advanced lipoprotein analysis • Apolipoproteins and selected vascular-risk markers • Insulin-resistance assessment • Inflammatory markers • Fatty-acid or nutritional assessment when useful

Gastrointestinal Testing

What Testing Measures • Comprehensive stool analysis • Digestive and absorption markers • Microbial balance • Intestinal inflammatory markers • Selected pathogen or overgrowth evaluation • Testing chosen according to symptoms and conventional workup

Environmental Exposure Testing

What Testing Measures • Mold- or mycotoxin-related testing • Heavy-metal assessment • Selected environmental toxicants • Exposure-based evaluation guided by history • Referral or conventional testing when environmental illness requires a different specialist

Nutrient, Organic Acid & Detoxification-Pathway Testing

What Testing Measures • Micronutrient status • Oxidative-stress markers • Organic acids when clinically useful • Methylation- and glutathione-related markers • Selected genetic information when it has a clear clinical purpose

Tick-Borne and Infectious Testing

What Testing Measures • Lyme-related testing • Selected tick-borne organisms • Testing based on geography, exposure, symptoms, and prior evaluation • Coordination with infectious-disease or other specialists when appropriate

Our Partner Laboratories

Depending on the clinical question and current availability, testing may be performed through conventional or specialty laboratories such as Labcorp, Quest Diagnostics, Genova Diagnostics, Diagnostic Solutions Laboratory, Mosaic Diagnostics, Doctor’s Data, Vibrant Wellness, Cyrex Laboratories, RealTime Laboratories, or IGeneX.

Learn About Specialty Laboratory Testing

Patients who would like to understand the types of specialty testing that may be considered can review the official laboratory websites below. These links are provided for general education. A laboratory’s test menu does not mean that every test is appropriate, validated for every clinical purpose, or routinely ordered by Andelana MD. Testing is selected by the physician only when it addresses a relevant clinical question.

Important: Specialty test results can be difficult to interpret and may have limitations. Patients should not order, diagnose, or treat themselves based only on information from a laboratory website. Results must be considered in the context of symptoms, medical history, examination findings, conventional testing, medications, exposures, and the physician’s clinical judgment.

Important Clarification

Andelana MD does not replace emergency care and cannot guarantee that every possible disease or condition will be identified. Testing is selected according to clinical appropriateness rather than through a one-size-fits-all panel.
