Thyroid Health & Function
Physician-Directed Evaluation for Thyroid Health
The thyroid plays an essential role in regulating metabolism, energy production, body temperature, heart function, and many other aspects of overall health. When thyroid function is altered, it can contribute to a wide range of symptoms that may overlap with other medical conditions. At Andelana MD, we provide comprehensive, physician-directed evaluation for individuals experiencing symptoms that may be associated with thyroid dysfunction or other endocrine conditions. Our goal is to identify factors that may be contributing to your symptoms.
Symptoms We May Evaluate

Fatigue or low energy

Unexplained weight gain or weight loss
-
Sensitivity to cold or heat
-
Hair thinning or hair loss
-
Dry skin or brittle nails
-
Constipation or changes in bowel habits

Your Evaluation
Your physician will perform a comprehensive assessment that includes a detailed review of your symptoms, medical and family history, current medications and supplements, previous thyroid diagnoses or treatment, and any relevant laboratory or imaging studies. Evidence-based laboratory testing may be recommended. Testing may include TSH, Free T4, Free T3, and thyroid antibody testing when clinically appropriate. Additional diagnostic testing or referral for thyroid imaging may be advised when indicated based on your clinical presentation.
Treatment Planning
Treatment recommendations are individualized and based on your clinical history, examination findings, laboratory results, and overall health. Depending on the underlying diagnosis, your care plan may include monitoring, lifestyle recommendations, thyroid hormone replacement when medically indicated, or additional evaluation for autoimmune thyroid disease or other endocrine disorders. Thyroid medication is prescribed only when clinically appropriate after a comprehensive medical evaluation and is not based solely on symptoms or a single laboratory value. All treatment decisions are made through shared medical decision-making, with ongoing monitoring to help ensure treatment remains safe and appropriate over time.

Your Evaluation
The physician reviews your symptoms, menstrual and reproductive history, medical and family history, current medications and supplements, prior hormone use, relevant screening history and individual risk considerations. Examination or laboratory testing may be recommended when clinically appropriate.
Treatment Planning
Treatment may include lifestyle recommendations, nonhormonal options, approved menopausal hormone therapies or other individualized care when medically appropriate. Hormone treatment is not automatically prescribed based on symptoms or a single laboratory value. Decisions are made through shared medical decision-making after reviewing potential benefits, limitations and risks.
Men's Hormone Health
A Medical Evaluation - Not Automatic Testosterone Prescribing
Fatigue, reduced strength, changes in sexual function, sleep problems and changes in body composition can have many possible causes. Andelanda MD provides a structured evaluation to determine whether symptoms may be associated with testosterone deficiency, another endocrine issue, sleep disruption, medication effects, metabolic disease or another medical condition.
The Evaluation May Include
-
Symptom and health-history review
-
Prior testosterone or hormone treatment
-
Medication and supplement reconciliation
-
Sleep and possible sleep-apnea risk
-
Cardiovascular and metabolic-risk review
-
Fertility considerations
-
Prostate-health history
-
Appropriate physical examination
-
Properly timed and confirmatory laboratory testing when indicated
Treatment Options
When clinically appropriate, the physician may discuss lifestyle interventions, treatment of contributing conditions, testosterone therapy or referral for additional evaluation. Patients receiving prescription hormone therapy require ongoing monitoring.
Treatment is not guaranteed and is not based solely on a desire to increase athletic performance, muscle mass or a laboratory number.
