Restore Selected Volume and Facial Support

​JUVÉDERM is a family of hyaluronic-acid dermal fillers. Different products are designed for different facial areas and treatment depths. Filler may be considered to restore selected volume, support contour, soften certain folds, or improve balance. The goal is not to enlarge every feature, but to choose the amount and location that best fit the patient's anatomy and desired result.

Areas That May Be Discussed

  • Cheek and midface volume

  • Lips and perioral lines

  • Chin or jawline contour

  • Nasolabial folds and marionette-region concerns

  • Other FDA-approved treatment areas appropriate for the selected product

What to Expect

The physician marks the treatment plan and places filler using a needle or cannula, depending on the product and area. Some improvement is visible immediately, but swelling can temporarily exaggerate the result. Final assessment is made after swelling settles. Duration varies by product, area, metabolism, and amount used and may range from several months to more than a year.

Common Effects

  • Swelling, bruising, redness, tenderness, firmness, itching, or temporary asymmetry

  • Small lumps or irregularity during early healing

  • Cold-sore reactivation in susceptible patients

Rare but Serious Vascular Complications

The most serious filler risk is unintended injection into or compression of a blood vessel. This can interrupt blood supply and cause severe pain, blanching or mottled skin, tissue injury or tissue loss, scarring, visual abnormalities or blindness, stroke, and other serious complications. Increasing pain, unusual color change, cool skin, visual change, weakness, or speech difficulty requires immediate emergency evaluation.

Treatment May Be Postponed or Avoided

  • Pregnancy or breastfeeding

  • Active dental, sinus, skin, or systemic infection

  • Inflammation, rash, acne flare, or open skin near the injection area

  • Prior severe filler reaction or certain immune conditions

  • Recent procedures or medications that materially increase risk
